My integrative therapeutic approach weaves together attachment, identity, early childhood experiences, and identity formation, drawing heavily from psychodynamic theories, attachment-based therapies, and narrative therapy. Here's a description of how such an approach might function:
Core Principles:
Attachment as a Foundation:
This approach recognizes that early attachment experiences with primary caregivers significantly shape an individual's core values, sense of self, relationship patterns, and emotional regulation. Therapists explore the client's attachment style (secure, anxious, avoidant, disorganized) and how it influences their current relationships and mental health counseling.
Early Childhood's Impact:
The approach emphasizes the lasting effects of early childhood experiences, including trauma, neglect, and significant life events. Therapists help clients revisit and process these experiences to understand their impact on present-day functioning.
Identity Exploration:
Identity is seen as a dynamic and evolving process, influenced by attachment, early experiences, and cultural factors. Therapists facilitate exploration of the client's sense of self, values, beliefs, and life narrative.
Narrative Reconstruction:
Clients are encouraged to re-author their life stories, integrating past experiences into a coherent and meaningful narrative. This process helps clients develop a stronger sense of identity and agency.
Therapeutic Themes:
- Exploring Attachment Patterns
- Processing Early Trauma
- Internal Family Systems language
- Identity Mapping and Exploration
- Narrative/Expressive Art Therapy Techniques
- Building a Secure Base

As a professional counselor, my practice is deeply rooted in core values that guide my integrative therapeutic approach. First and foremost, I respect your autonomy, empowering you to make your own choices and decisions. I strive for beneficence, actively working to promote your well-being and best interests within the realm of mental health counseling. Equally important is nonmaleficence; I am committed to avoiding any actions that could cause you harm. I believe in justice, ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all clients, regardless of background. I uphold fidelity, building trust by being loyal, faithful, and honoring my commitments, especially regarding confidentiality. And finally, I value veracity, maintaining honesty and truthfulness in all our interactions. These core values guide my every action, ensuring I provide ethical, effective, and client-centered care.

'The Drama of the Gifted Child' by Alice Miller delves into the complexities of childhood and its impact on adult life, and 'The Gift of Therapy' by Irvin D. In a counseling relationship, privacy and confidentiality mean that what you share with your counselor stays between you two, fostering a safe and trusting environment. Counselors are committed to protecting your information and only share details when legally required or with your consent. With telehealth, there are additional considerations, like ensuring secure internet connections and using encrypted platforms to minimize risks. While telehealth is convenient and accessible, it's important to be aware of potential issues such as technical glitches or privacy breaches, and to discuss these concerns with your counselor to ensure your information remains protected.
I also enjoy working with a wide variety of clients who have goals that aren't mentioned in previous sections. I love working with clients who want to address neurodivergence, gender and sexuality, identity issues, anxiety, depression, career and life planning, artist block, parenting children on the spectrum, and "3rd act" empowerment for perimenopausal and menopausal women who are want to try embody their truest form in all it's grief and glory.
